Religious Education

Elementary

Preschool through Second Grade Liturgy of the Word with Children – All children four years through second grade are invited to join us as we are dismissed from 10:30a.m. Mass to hear the Scriptures read from the Lectionary for Masses with Children. This is in addition to their Religion classes at an area Catholic school or Faith Formation classes for those children in public schools.  Guests are always welcome.

Grades P4 through Second Grade  St. Dominic is blessed to have Levels I, II and III of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.  CGS is an approach to the religious formation of the young child.  The catechesis is based on the conviction that God and the child are in relationship.  The child has a deep need to experience and a special capacity to enjoy the presence of God.  The goal of the CGS is to nurture this relationship and to assist the child in falling in love with God.  This is accomplished in the Atrium using specially-designed "materials", prayer, song, listening to sacred Scripture and giving the child time to work with the materials.  If you know and love Montessori classrooms, you will love Catechesis of the Good Shepherd.

Grades Three through Eight This program centers around a scripture based catechetical program. It also includes weekly prayer experiences, ritual, mission and outreach.  Call the parish offic for current times and to register for classes.

Sacramental Preparation Completion of the Sacraments of Initiation (Confirmation and First Holy Eucharist) and Reconciliation (Penance) are separate from the regular parish and school faith formation programs. It is the norm of the Diocese of Saginaw and St. Dominic Parish that preparation and celebration of all three sacraments be done together. This preparation takes place normally in the second grade. Confirmation preparation for older children and teens who have already celebrated Eucharist is also available.

Youth Ministry Check the parish bulletin and our Facebook page (St. Dominic Youth Ministry) for the latest information.  There are many other service opportunities and social gatherings for our youth.

Adult Education We believe learning about our faith is a life long learning experience.  In addition to Thursday morning Bible Study, there are many educational enrichment opportunities offered throughout the year.  Check our bulletin and Facebook page for the latest information.
